I’ve been neglecting you. I’m sorry. I’ve been busy getting myself out the door to BlogHer, which (apparently) involves things like buying groceries and remembering while grabbing milk that I haven’t packed any socks, and then chanting “socks, socks, socks” under my breath all the way home, where I then throw socks into my suitcase and resume normal life. An hour later I’m all “EYELINER!” like the fate of the world depends on it, and I totally sat up in the middle of the night certain that I’d forgotten to put my hair goop into an airline-approved-size container.
In other words, it’s hard being me. (Not really. But I think it’s hard to live with me, when I’m in squirrel mode like this.) (Or always, whatever.)
Anyhoo. Off to Chicago I go. If you’re attending BlogHer, PLEASE come say hello, and if you’re so inclined, I’m speaking tomorrow morning as part of the “What You Learn When You Speak Out” session, in which I will be singing the praises of all of YOU (see also: Tamponapalooza.) I’m also one of this year’s Voices Of The Year honorees, and so will be trying to act casual at the VOTY session. I hope to meet some (more) of you.
Also, whatever I forgot to pack, I’m sure I’m going to remember it right after I board the plane.
What I always tell myself as I obsess about forgetting something essential: I’m not going to a third world country. They have stores there!
Have a grand time!
I know I would enjoy hearing you speak, and I would definitely come say hello…but that require actually going to the conference. So have a good time for all of us not in attendance. I will wait to hear all about it when you get back ~
It’s certainly hilarious READING you when you’re in squirrel mode. (Or always. Whatevs.) Heh. Can’t wait to read about all the trouble you manage to find. Or, um, create. ;-)
Have a great time and enjoy yourself….and yes there are stores if you forgot something….yes I’m sure on the way to the airport or on the plane there will be something you neglected to bring it seems like that always happens….
You know, I live in Chicago, right? :)
Have a great time! And congratulations on VOTY. Wish I could go down and hear you read but I have to work. If for some weird reason you get so lost in Chicago that you wind up in Milwaukee please let me know! Happy to give you a tour and help pick up anything you forgot to pack.
I second that! Milwaukee is great for getting away from the Chicago crowds.
P.S. You go, girl.
Have a safe trip and enjoy!
I stand ready to vote for you….early and often.
Where do I go to cast my ballot?
I went back and read the Tamponapalooza post.. because it has to be (still) one of the funniest things i have read online. And it turns out that it was almost exactly 1 year ago that it took place.
A fine reason for reflection and stuff.
Have fun in Chicaaahgo!
I’m bummed that I’m not going to BlogHer this year, and it’s just down the road! Too many other conferences for me this year to justify going. :( Have fun, can’t wait to hear how it went.
Have a grand time!!!!
I think you are one of the few bloggers that when you don’t post, I think…”Oh good..maybe everything in her life and family is just so peaceful and quiet right now she doesn’t have anything to share with us”.
Not that I don’t love reading! I’m just saying, I am always hoping for you to have a nice, uneventful week every one in awhile!
I’m sorry I’ll miss it, but if I could go and it wouldn’t be weird, I would give you two hugs. One to support you for all the stuff that you have to go through and the second in thanks for sharing it with all of us! We have different medical issues here, but it helps to know there are others out there who are also not perfect and learn about how they are handling the not-perfect. Very inspirational. Thank you.
*terrorist fist bump* You got this!
This is SO NOT FAIR!!!!
I was in Chicago last weekend and not going back again soon!!
I’m sitting at my parents house right now IN CHICAGO because we planned a family reunion around Blogher… and I never bought a ticket and apparently have completely bailed on it. Had I known earlier you were going to be there, I would have mentally prepped and at least gotten a day pass. Sigh. Have a fantastic time. Our paths will cross soon (in a non-creepy I’m not just going to show up at your house and swim in your pool way…) XO
I’m so glad to have met you and your wonderful hair. So glad.
