I’ve improved with age

There’s no doubt that as I get older I get wiser, as well as less of a pain in the ass. (Okay, that last part is debatable, I suppose.) The regrets I have from my youth are plentiful, but theoretically all of THAT contributes to what I am NOW. And what I am now is more or less okay with me, as it’s a good deal smarter, less impulsive, and happier than Young Me.

That said, there are a few events from my past which I still cringe to recount. Not that this stops me. So if you want to head over to Off Our Chests today, you can read about the single most delinquent-esque choice of my teenage years, and why it’s something I hold in mind as I parent my own kids.

I am going to Off My Chest to read your skeletons. My skeletons want to play with your skeletons, but I have to make sure yours won’t try to bone mine. They’re not on birth control.

I think we’ve all done something we aren’t proud of. The trick is to keep the number of those things as low as possible.

From my perspective, the fact that you made recognition of the incident and are changing the environment for your own kids, has a value that trumps your own cheating…

I know when I have kids, my primary goal is going to get them to get excited about something and not concerned about performing to make other people feel better.

Probably easier said than done.. :)
