Me: Haircuts this afternoon.
Him: Not for me! You’re not cutting MY hair!
Me: No, not for you. You’re all wild and shaggy. Just Otto and Chickie.
Her: Yeah, cuz he’s a… a…
Me: Hippie.
Her: Hobo!
Me: No.
Her: Yes! Same thing.
Me: A hippie and a hobo are NOT the same thing.
Her: Practically.
Me: Ummmm… NO. A hippie is free-spirited. A hobo is HOMELESS.
Otto: Dude, have you been sleeping in empty railroad cars again?
Him: What?
Her: Oh, whatEVER.
Colin (age 6, w/ gorgeous curls) after I combed his hair after his bath one night: “You call THAT stylish?!” at which point he proceeded to comb it into a total old man comb-over. A definite hobo look.
Can I tell you the unadulteratd joy (too much Mir, I know but whaterver) I felt when I was perusing my reader on a Saturday and a post came through from ‘Woulda Coulda Shoulda’? Well great joy, I know I probably should get a life and perhaps I will but right now I’m going to read your post!
So what would you call someone who is both free-spirited and homeless?
suburbancorrespondant- A Hipbo? A Hopie? Either way, sounds like a nice thing to be!
Ahhh … they’re both hobos. Can I be one?
Family conversations: Truth is stranger than fiction.
Ahhh…we are doing haircuts later today here and I got the same moaning reply from my 8 yr old son. (Like I enjoy it!?!!!?! Getting all their hair all over me and getting to clean it up!?!)
We are just so cruel, aren’t we?! :)
I found this on someone’s blog and I thought you would appreciate it . . . bacon chocolate bar http://www.vosgeschocolate.com/product/bacon_exotic_candy_bar/exotic_candy_bars
I think that every one should go for a hair cut once a month weather thaty need it or not. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Now I have to go to the website that hallie mentioned.
I’ve missed you so…and your hobo hippies, too…;)
My husband is growing out his hair to give to Locks of Love. He should have the computer geek haircut from high school, but instead he has got a Steven Seagal number going on.
Mir: [family conversation about haircuts, hippies and hobos]
Me: Mir blogs on Saturday?
Me again: Oh, and I need to schedule a hair appt. for dd.
Thanks Mir. Quality family entertainment and reminder service in one convenient location.
LOL… well I suppose a person could be both a hippie and a hobo at the same time! a free-spirited homeless traveler???
This reminds me of the time my eleven year old son, at a family gathering, said “hippies were for peace” and my mother said “all hippies cared about were drugs and sex” TO MY ELEVEN YEAR OLD SON! I was like, “Mom! Really?”.
Damn dirty hippies. I certainly hope he looks like a hobo.
