Me: I’m taking out a loaf of beer-cheese bread to bring up with us later. Otto: Wow! Me: What? Otto: That’s awfully generous of you! Me: Um. It’s BREAD. Otto: No, it’s BEER-CHEESE BREAD. Me: Yes. Well. I thought I should bring them something. Otto: But it’s BEER-CHEESE BREAD. Me: I WILL MAKE SOME MORE FOR YOU. SHEESH. They’ve had our children for an entire day and night! Otto: You’re sucking up so that they’ll take the kids again. Me: Yes.
If you’re going to suck up, you might as well do it right. Bring on the Beer-Cheese bread. (thank GOD you posted the recipe again cause I’m dying to try it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed because my adventures in bread baking have been utter failures lately.)
I googled the recipe after reading that…they are ALL DIFFERENT! I know you’ve posted yours before…but could you do it again? You’re the best! And you’re really super duper pretty!

Maybe the links don’t show up for everyone? I followed them back and found the recipe here:
We had a lengthy discussion on which beers I could use to make beer-cheese bread. Husband prefers local brews, really good ones, and I didn’t want to waste something special. Luckily, someone gave us several bottles that were leftover from a party, and there was a Michelob Light in the mix. He doesn’t do light beers, so my bread was made. :) Oh, the sacrifice.
Has anyone tried that Bernard Clayton recipe with stouter beer and cheese with more character?? If so, how did it turn out?
I mean, the worlds of ‘biere & fromage’ are full of delight and potential….
Cheers!

Whenever I make any treat for friends/neighbors/whoever, I double the recipe so we can have some for ourselves, thus forestalling any husbandly sad-puppy eyes.
Sounds yummy. Care to share the recipe? I’m always looking for new bread recipes. Especially tried and true ones.
Beer cheese bread is ample payment for many things-has Tagret started accepting it yet?

And for my itty contribution, I’d love a loaf of bread from each one of you. It would certainly beat taking on two kids overnight.

How about a loaf of Merlot-Brie. Oh yeah.

What is it about husbands? Mine can’t stand for me to take food to other people and not make some for him.
