I’m feeling a little back-lash-y about all of the Mom as Flawed Being books…I wonder why that is? I haven’t actually read that many, but perhaps it’s because I’m submerged in the mom culture. I am glad you asked about the author’s name. My daughter’s name is Ann, and I was pronouncing that in the same way I say my daughter’s name when I am frustrated with her.

I used to have some hair product that looked like deoderant. I was forever making the same mistake Ayun did and then wondering why my pits smelled like an Aveda salon.

Man, now I really miss that product.

So that’s how you pronounce “Ayun”! I usually pronounce it like “A an’”, like the cable network A&E.

Heehee, I love the in flight entertainment tips. Barf bag puppets! Ayun rocks. I have to say I read the Big Rumpus way before I was even married or had any kids, and laugh out loud loved it. So it’s a good book to read even if you’re not a new mom.

Well, they’ll certainly have to make the in-flight magazines more interesting, which might mean some spin-off work for writers somewhere.

Great review; it really makes me want to read the book (which is what a good review should do!)

Heh. The book sounds terrific! And if the airlines are really going to confiscate reading material (are they kidding me with this? It reminds me of the time I got in trouble in elementary school for disregarding a school rule prohibiting reading in the cafeteria. Seriously.) then they may have to deal with quite a few adults playing peanut football.
